The following provides a brief overview of the assignment process and demonstrates some of the features and functionality of RefSelect.  Included are snapshots of portions of views available to referees and assignors.

Referee Requests

Upon logging into RefSelect and selecting the desired filter options, the referee is presented with a list of games.   For each game request, the referee need only select the position desired.    Requests may also include optional information such as “Priority”, assign only “If Needed”, or “Call After” assigning.

The referee also has the ability to include comments with his/her request.

When finished, game requests are submitted to the assignor by clicking on the green Submit Requests box.

Assigning Referees

In addition to the standard filter functions, the assignor also has multiple view options that enable the assignor to control both the amount of information displayed and the format of the display.  Below is a sample Assignor View of requests for a game.  Listed are all referees that have requested positions, their desired position(s), priority, rating (discrete rating is established, and only known by the assignor or administrator), and the number of game requests made as well as the assignments accepted to date.  Also included are comments submitted by referees.

Notice that the background color of the game listing is light blue.  In order to provide a quick visual status of games, the following color code is used in the background of each game listing.

Hovering the mouse over the name of the referee will provide additional contact information.

Click on the Ref and AR buttons to select the crew.

Like referees, assignors have the ability to post comments to individual referees.

The final step in assigning is to review the assignments and select those ready for email notification.  RelSelect then automatically generates an email to the referee(s).

The RefSelect generated email provides game details, and requests confirmation by the referee.  Also included is a hyperlink to the RefSelect login page, so the referee is one click and one password entry away from confirming their acceptance of the assignment.

Once all members of the crew accept their assignments, the background color of the game listing turns green.  So, from a display perspective, the assignor’s objective is to see green as soon as possible!

Copies for the Pitch

RefSelect enables both referees and assignors to print neatly formatted copies of their schedules to take to the pitch.  Below is sample of an assignor copy.
